Can a Foundation student get a grade 6?

No. Foundation is capped at grade 5. If grade 6+ is the target, the entry should be Higher — that is a school decision, not a past-paper decision.

Should Foundation students sit Higher papers for practice?

Only if the teacher sets it. Random Higher papers mostly teach that the paper feels impossible, which is not a skill.

Is the free test Foundation or Higher?

You choose Foundation or Higher at the start of the free readiness check. Pick the tier the school is entering.
